more grousing

The ruffed grouse were back late this afternoon, about a half hour before sunset. There were four of them, perched in chokecherry trees picking off buds. There must be something about the chokecherry buds this time of year, maybe they're just open enough to be palatable.

That is so cool, Deb. I love seeing that grouse in the Chokecherry tree.

Is that bird mooning me? I can't tell which is the "receiving" end.

Hmm,

Exactly what would the bird be receiving from you pablo ?

;-)

maybe a round stone.

Actually, it's a side shot. The tail is on the left, and it forms an inverted "U" towards the head on the right. I had some more anatomically easy shots, but this one seemed to capture the moment the best.

What a great camo pattern. Nicely disruptive as evidenced by the questions about which way is he facing.

Hmm, I had no trouble knowing which way he is facing. Funny how, sometimes, familiar things become almost invisible to us, and yet, other times, nobody can see it except those who are familiar with it.
