My axe

1987 Lloyd LaPlant, number 26. The top is spruce, and the back is tiger maple from Washington state. The fretboard is ebony. It sounds as good as it looks!

That's a gorgeous instrument and a work of art. I'd love to hear it played.

No fair! I love LaPlant's instruments, he is a true artist. This one looks as beautiful as any I've seen. I'm currently playing a Dean F5 that is a piece of crap. :( Someday I'll get a grown-up mandolin.

I loved reading your story about going to visit Lloyd. :)

well Chris, this is the one I bought from Dick Kimmel. I wasn't ready for it, but the opportunity presented itself and well..I haven't regretted it since. Except I can't play well enough yet to do it justice...

Thank you Cindy!

OK...I admit...I find myself coming back here just to see the beautiful colors of that blanket behind a beautiful instrument. I love looking at that photo, for some reason!

(maybe the codeine is getting to me...cool colors, man...wow...;) )

What a great motivator, the colors of your music...

VERY pretty mando. I'm jealous. I've always wanted an F... Maybe if I ever get good with my A, I'll graduate to an F.
