Trumpeter swans are very vocal birds. Even when they are loafing around on the water, they seem to constantly be talking to each other. I took this video mainly to record their sounds. Turn up the sound and enjoy!
FC- I checked my bird book today, and it looks like trumpeters don't go too far south; Iowa and Missouri were the southern part of their range. I think some of them do spend the winter where they can find open water. There is a nuclear power plant on the Mississippi north of Minneapolis/St. Paul that keeps water open due to thermal discharge, and I think swans congregate there.

Neat!
Are they on their way south or do they actually spend the winter in Minnesotarctica?

What cool birds!! Love their sound!
That's a very cool video. How lucky you were to have a nice calm day for swan watching.
Jayne and RuthieJ- Aren't they wonderful!
