This was taken with The Hermit's new Kodak Z740 with 10x optical zoom. I must admit, it sure beats the hell out of my 4x optical zoom. I'll have to use it for feeder photos from now on.
What a cute little downy woodpecker you have there. They've been showing up at our feeder too. They seem braver than the other birds, staying much longer even when we open the door and go outside.

I should add, my 4 year old, Mr. Attitude, can already identify a downy woodpecker. He proudly annouces to me when this one shows up.
I can't remember--what's the difference between the downy and the hairy woodpecker? Great close up shot, Deb.
