And here it is! Music by Deb & Fred
To listen, please right click on the link and choose the "Save As" option, rather than listening directly from the server.
The song is "Early" written by Iowa songwriter Greg Brown; I'm playing guitar, and Fred (aka Mando Man) is on mandolin. Unfortunately, he opted out of singing harmony on this one, since it was our first time through it; improvising harmony can be risky business! This was from a recording Fred made at our first practice session; sorry, copies of the whole session will NOT be made available to the general public due to my limited guitar flatpicking ability. ;)
Many, many thanks to my good blogging friend the dharma bum for agreeing to host this on his server.

Deb, that was wonderful! I love hearing your voice. It's a great song, too.
Wow! When I suggested you should provide an .mp3, I never thought you'd actually be able to do it! That's sweet! Very nice!
You've been added to my iPod...
Deb-
How cool is that to actually hear one of my favorite bloggers sing & play one of my favorite Greg Brown songs (from his first album, 44&66)?
And you guys did such a fine job with it that I've saved it to my iPod too!
PS
While saving Early to the iPod I also used your neat 'watering can & vegetable' photo below for the 'album' art, and as long as it's from an 'album' we must have a name, so this version of Early on my iPod is from Fred & Deb's 'Sand Creek Almanac' album with very down home cover art.
;~)
By the way...
...how does it feel to be famous and have your song in iPods all over the country?
...well in two iPods nationwide anyhow.
All kidding aside, I think Fred is right, we live in a medium size community of 25,000 and with a tiny bit of practice, you two could easily be the best acoustic duo in our neck of the woods.
Very pretty
Yikes! I've been "podded"! I'm really way, way behind on the times here. I don't own an iPod, nor do I have any idea of how one works. At my level, I would be snail-mailing you copies of cassette tapes. That is, if I'd heard of blogging...oh well, I'm glad you like it, even if it is a first-time-through practice recording. Fred told me he was glad he didn't try to sing harmony, it was hard enough for him to listen to himself picking his way through it...not that I noticed, I thought he sounded pretty good. We're all our own worst critics. :)
Deb,
I was so delighted when I went over to dharma bum's blog tonight and saw his link to your music. It's beautiful, and you can bet I'll be linking to it as soon I finish this line. Thanks for sharing your music with us.
