My birthday present

I am now officially in the 21st century. I have an Ipod.

Now what do I do???? :)

UPDATE: I have now downloaded 1.2 gigabytes of music that I had on my work computer. I finally got iTunes installed at home, now I have to make some time to play with it.

Who was the first artist I listened to on my iPod? Me! Totally by chance, I had my recording of Greg Brown's "Early" already on iTunes, and it automatically downloaded to the Pod when I connected it. Sweet!

You can put bird songs on it too!

Visit your local library for lots of free CD's and audio books.

I inherited my son's iPod when he got a new one last fall, and I especially enjoy listening to my favorites while I wash dishes. That's pretty neat that you get to hear yourself perform.

Lynne- I'll have to look for a good source of bird songs. I was just listening to frog songs the other day, refreshing my memory and learning the song of the mink frog, which I now know we have here.

Richard- Our small library system manages to keep a good collection of CD's. I haven't checked into audio books, but I will!

Jan M- You've given me a good idea for what to listen to while washing dishes. The local radio station usually happens to be playing something I don't especially like when I'm washing dishes.

I want an iPod! Actually, I have one of the very first iPod Shuffles ever made. It's sufficient for me (recorded books), but if I get lost in the story, I can't find my way. It has no display to show what selection I am listening to. I think I'm going to treat myself to a Nano. I'm worth it, dontcha think?

Pablo- Mine's a Nano, and it's very easy to navigate with the display.

You're definitely worth it! Although, if I might ask, when do you listen to books? I'm still trying to figure out how to work constant music listening into my schedule.

Off to go do dishes and listen to my first ever downloaded album, "Punch" by The Punch Brothers. Chris Thile just keeps outdoing himself.

Love my iPods, I get Leah's discards when she upgrades (she now has a Touch).

For Birdsong, check out birdjam.com (formerly called birdpod). My brother-in-law uses his all the time.

Clare- I will check out birdjam.com, thanks for the tip!

FC- Thanks. I totally understand the "belated" circumstances.
