200 some channels

First- I found my boots, and the snow shovels! just in time. I also found a down parka of mine that I haven't worn in several years, but I feel like bringing it out this year.

The DirecTV guy arrived today, despite howling winds and about eight inches of snow, and connected us with the world. The kids are going crazy with the remote, navigating the new TV-sphere. I will probably only get my chance at it at about 3 AM. I would really love to catch up with The Food Network.

It is a nesting kind of night around here. Don't know how I'll deal with the snow in the driveway yet, but it will happen somehow.

The pine grosbeaks were calling from the trees, but I don't know why they do not show up at the feeder.

Sorry if I sound so flat lately. I'm just kind of mentally wiped out. The weather does not help.

That sounds like my husband, when we got Dish Network. I still haven't seen the remote, LOL!

Hope you can recharge your mental batteries!

Well if you're anything like us, there's a gabazillion channels, and nothing to watch. Although I do love me some Food Network, and will watch almost anything that airs.

8 inches of snow? Does it make me a sicko that I'm jealous, actually jealous of that?

I'm catching up and wishing you some respite.
We were the same way when Directv arrived.
It actually helped us to avoid the network junk and give the kids decent TV options.
That was a major plus.

Best wishes to you and the Hermit for a speedy recovery.

Have fun with all the new channels! I can guarantee you that when the fam will let you pick what to watch there will be nothing you are interested in, and when you find something you REALLY want to sit down and enjoy, the fam will have other plans for that TV. Still, if you don't mind staying up until the wee hours, you might get to use it a bit! ::giggle::

Chin up, darlin'. I know things are tough right now, but we are all thinking of you and sending good healing thoughts your way. Try to take some time to take care of yourself. You don't want to get all rundown and sick.

Rurality- 24 hours later, I still haven't held the remote. I had my chance at 5 am, but Starflower was sleeping on the floor in front of the TV and I didn't want to disturb her. :)

Catty Ax Lady- help, I have seen a day's worth of Nickelodeon now!

You're not crazy. It is kind of pretty.

FC- Thanks for the good thoughts. We start physical therapy tomorrow.

You make a good point. With the antenna, we were limited to three or four channels of network stuff, most of it not worth watching, but at least with the satellite we can choose something that's actually worth watching.

BG- I am really beginning to like TV Land. We watched M*A*S*H last night. I had not seen that in so long!

I had a better day today. I felt really good after I went out and did some shoveling on the pond.

Hi Deb,
Hope you like the Direct TV and that you don't have to become a referee too with the kids and the remote!!

Snow on a driveway does sort of flatten out when you drive on it...I'm sure I'm going to regret this...

RuthieJ- We are in the initial overwhelmed state with so much to watch, so little time. But Nickelodeon is probably better for kids than anything, and they like it. We watched maybe two hours of Sponge Bob this morning! Eek!

Arcolaura- I did try the driving on snow/flattening out thing, and it did work some with the Subaru's all wheel drive. But I was actually praying for a solution, and a neighbor we see rarely showed up, and I asked him about who to call for snowplowing, and he recommended the guy who did our roof. I hadn't thought of him, but I gave him a call and he came out this afternoon. Thirty dollars, but worth it. I spent my shoveling time where it counts, on the pond. :)
