winter storm warning

6-10 inches of snow possible tonight. Blizzard warnings in the county to the north and gale warnings on Lake Superior.

When will it end?

The Hermit emailed me yesterday to tell me we were down to 25% in the large propane tank so he ordered 275 gallons, the minimum order. I emailed him back saying "I hope that lasts until spring comes!"

My ears tell me it's spring. I step out in the dim morning light to the sound of woodcocks and sandhill cranes and robins and Canada geese. The birding listservs are full of reports of new migrants arriving daily. But, once again, Spring is on hold.

Actually, the thought of blizzards and gale warnings on Lake Superior is strangely appealing to me. I wouldn't mind being holed up in a cozy cabin on the shore, with a warm wood stove and no reason to go outdoors, listening to the wind howl and the waves crash.

Important words being, "no need to go outside". We live about 3 miles inland and have a lake view.
We are ready, groceries stocked, wood carried in, batteries for the radio, containers to be filled with water for drinking and flushing. Soup in the crockpot. We have always felt that we should hope for the best, but be prepared!

Have a cozy storm.

Deb,

I hope your storm turns out to be more hype than anything. Take care.

Ooooh. I used to love storms on Lake Superior when I was a kid. They're saying spring here is going to be two weeks late this year. So that means it will finally be nice about 4th of July...

Hope you weather the storm okay.

Good luck with the snow Deb....hopefully it will be closer to 6" and not a foot!
Only about an inch of snow predicted for us in SE MN, but lots of rain and wind..... I just keep reminding myself to hold on till Sunday when the front moves on and the sun reappears!

I'm with Adele, I like being prepared. Then, instead of running around trying to find batteries or not having bread and milk or whatever, I can sit back, grab a book or watch a movie or listen to or play some music. Maybe even take a nap. I like storms. It gives me down time. Besides, this time of year, it melts fast. At least there are no tornadoes or mosquitoes!! Enjoy it.
