How could I have forgotten the cranes?

I saw them! A huge flock, maybe twenty or so, last Thursday. I thought they were all long gone. But I think they might be, now.

Whiter Biter the ever loving cat is hanging on me now, doing everything possible to make sure this post does not work. What does he have against cranes? Blue Flame, my other cabin cat, has decided to go on another hermitage under the cabin. Oh well, he will come out when he's hungry enough.

I saw 3 flocks of sandhills on Friday afternoon here in the Black Hills, and one on Sunday, so they are still moving here.
Nothing compared to the 50+ flocks that were overhead on Sunday 12th. Flocks were anywhere from 75 to 300 birds, I figured that I saw between 4-5,000 in 2 hours that afternoon. Amazing.
But none on the ground like your group, how lucky are you?

Oh Deb, that's so neat! I love the sound they make.

We saw hundreds coming back from the Horicon marsh on Monday near Tomah Wisconsin. They were in cornfields though I like your "woodsy" scene better!
