happiness is...

...having a wonderful view of the lunar eclipse from your bedroom window when it's below zero outside!

And, having your kids lined up at the window, enjoying it.

Would that be looking out the Birder's Bed and Breakfast window?

Last night - unaware of the astronomical calendar - I was out in the back yard filling the wood boiler, and it was -21 degrees. I looked up at the moon, and for a good three or four seconds, I was as dumb-struck as a Neanderthal - the moon was RED - what the heck is going on?!?!?. Then, modern Eric piped up and said, "It's clearly a lunar eclipse, dumba$$!" and a good part of the wonder (fear?) was gone. I too had a decent view of it from the bedroom window. Nice post!

Wasn't that lunar eclipse spectatular, we watched from out of our patio door, turning red was the best. Now-a-days people don't take time to see things like that. It sort of ranks right up with watching the aurora borealis. Glad your kids watched it too with you. Now we have to wait a few years again.

Lynne- Yes, Deb's BB&B. :)

Eric- that was funny! Makes me wonder what people thought before our modern age of astronomical knowledge. Oh wait, we've known about astronomical phenomena for a long time...

Betty K- I'm so glad the kids got to see such a fantastic view of it. I've seen lunar eclipses before, but this was the best.

FC- Glad you got a warm view of it! It was the coldest night of the year, the thermometer read 29 below this morning!

I actually snuck outside for a few minutes but we watched it from the inside for the most part too.

Deb, We have too many trees and a hill that block our view of anything in the east and south-east. My husband and I went to our favorite viewing spot...the Catholic cemetary just outside of town on a nice high hill. Very few trees. We were there with two other cars. Sitting there with lights out. Shutting the truck off once in awhile to turn down the window to hear the coyotes. It was great! True happiness!

Larry- That was the best view I have had of a lunar eclipse in my lifetime. Glad you got to see it.

Cindy- I am just imagining your view and the sound of the coyotes. Wonderful.
