chicken surprise

eggs- not just for breakfast anymore

I knew we had some broody hens sitting on eggs, I just never imagined they would be successful! So far only one chick has hatched, but there are lots more eggs.

Witnessing first hand the cycles of life, birth and death, never fails to amaze me.

adorable little one! Watching chicks hatch is such a privilege, isn't it?

Wow! Isn't it amazing that the same eggs we eat for breakfast can, given the right attention, turn into those little guys? Makes me wonder if rabid right-to-lifers would ever eat fertilized chicken eggs.... Ha!

Unfortunately, I saw no sign of the chick tonight as I was feeding chickens. We just don't have it set up right now for young ones. :(

Good news! Peep lives! S/he's just very good at hiding, and I think it has a right protective mama. :) I saw Peep today in the chicken house.
