we'll wonder what we ever did without it

Yes, that's me behind the wheel of our "new" 1940 Farmall H. The Hermit found a deal too good to pass up, and, well, you know men and heavy equipment. It even came with a bucket, which will be ideal for getting the horse manure from the pasture to my garden beds. Of course, in the winter we can use it to plow snow from our long driveway; our suburban snowblower just wasn't fit for a country driveway.

Now if I just had more land to plow, to grow my own barley for beer...

1940! That is too cool.
Amazing that a preWW2 tractor is still working.
I guess this means the garden is doubling in size.

You look like you are having fun. Glad you now have something to help with the horse manure.

now THATS a big toy.. my hubby just peeked in and said tell her to be very careful, those models are known to tip easy. (He grew up in a farming community/family)

FC- At least double.

troutgrrrl- Sweet indeed. Maybe we can use it to move some boulders into Sand Creek for trout habitat improvement!

doubleknot- That was my first time driving, but it was very fun. We'll get a lot of manure moved!

Sylvia- yeah, we could probably enter it in a local threshing show they have, as an antique. Runs like a top though.

Claire- There are actually two wheels there in front, close together.

Cindy- We'll be careful, our land is pretty flat here. We are all too aware of what happened to Merle Watson, a talented guitar picker and son of the legendary Doc Watson. Died in a tractor rollover.

Awesome! I was brought up a city girl with country-girl desires, so I have to admit I'm a wee bit jealous. Have fun!
