Herons are the best. Good catch!

What is the mound of sticks? A beaver or muskrat lodge?

What a great perching place for him!

I'll echo Jain. Is that a beaver lodge?

Do you need an assistant? I need to get out of my cube!

Madcap- I have actually had a long standing affair with great blue herons, starting when I was about 4 years old and my grandparents bought a lake cabin on a lake that had an island that was a heron rookery.

Lynne- Yes he is!

Jain (and Pablo)- Judging from the size and materials (sticks), I would say this is definitely a beaver lodge.

Heidi- This is on Sand Lake. Same day as the loons.

Jayne- I suspect he thought he was king there for a while...

Pablo- see above.

Lausten North- Of course! Break free of the shackles of the cubicle! :) I am pretty thankful that I have a job that allows me to take photos like this.
