Marsh marigold

It is Spring in a big way, that week or two when everything bursts forth in green, the drab grays and tans of bare trees and dead grasses fade under new growth. It is the time while, as the everyday business of human life rushes forward, I just want to pause somewhere in a sunny meadow near a laughing brook and BE a part of this world that does not concern itself with human economies. I also see clearly, in stark contrast, the ideal life I want versus the present reality, lost in the details. But the renewal of spring gives me hope and courage to pursue that good life as I plant my garden and play the ancient music.

Fresh! Nice to see some hearty green-ness.

So, did you expand your garden this year?

Lovely! Wish we were closer to the great outdoors, but you do such a good job of capturing it for us.

It's good you are greening up finally! It must be such a welcome sight after a long cold winter.

I'm betting the mayflies are hatching and the trout are rising…at least they usually are when I see marsh marigold on the U.P.

Great writing. I love Marsh Marigolds! They aren't shy and secretive like other wildflowers, they smack you in the face and say here I am!! I am beautiful!!

We all need to slow down enough each day to soak in the feeling. Beautifully written Deb. :c)

Madcap- Expansion is in the works. :)

Ed Bruske- Well, you do a great job of cultivating your urban space and spreading the message of good food everywhere. By the way, I have not been able to switch the link to your blog over to your new site- Blogger won't let me, although it worked when I added it new on my other blog. Strange.

FC- Is it ever! Today it is 72 degrees and sunny, although the forecast said mostly cloudy. What a day to have to take off to stay home with a sick child (Starflower, who is getting better). :) Windows are open to let in all the bird and frog songs!

Grizzled- I wish I was so in tune with the trout and mayflies on Sand Creek. But that will come.

Cindy- It seems as if they appear overnight, a mound of green supporting an explosion of yellow flowers.

Jayne- Thanks. I know you're the kind of person who can relate. :)

By the way, after I took the photo I noticed a flowing spring just to the left of the marsh marigolds. Not a huge spring, but I had noticed before there is always water flowing in the roadside ditch nearby. There are probably more springs, which is why Sand Creek is cool enough to support brook trout here.

Wow, it's like sunshine on the ground!

Jain- yes, and a lovely contrast to the still-brown understory.
