FC- Do you get these guys in the winter, when they don't have such distinctive plumage?
I should have mentioned, these photos are a fringe benefit of my job. I had to wait a few days to get good shots of them though. They are a bird that will pop up next to the boat, unannounced, when your camera is not ready, and when your camera is ready they will suddenly dive and surface far away. They are truly a symbol of northern Minnesota lakes.
