moonrise

I took this picture out my living room window. Yes, I am grateful for the awesome view!

I have found that in winter, the moon rises in the northeast, and is more visible from my vantage points. In the summer, sometimes I hardly notice the full moon because it stays so far to the south, hidden by tall pines around here.

I'm in for some wild dreams tonight. The moon has a way of doing that. Or else I will be awake and restless in the wee hours. I hope your view of the moon is beautiful!

What a great photo! That's really beautiful. It's been raining so much here that we have not been able to see the bigger full moon this time.

That moon looks a lot like the one we have down here in Missouri.

I went geocaching (basically just means finding a hidden "treasure" using a GPS/latitude and longitude)
on friday night in the dark. We crunched through the snow and enjoyed it glistening in the moonlight. The trees happened to be covered in ice and looked beautiful too.

edifice rex- thanks! I just hate it when weather gets between me and a full moon.

FC- And Winter is shouting back to me, saying "you're in for it this week!" Cold snap coming.

Jayne- Too bad that's the room I spend very little time in because the kids have kind of taken it over...the TV and Wii are there...you get the picture.

Pablo- Yes, it's been theorized that we all do see the same moon. And I think it laughs at us.

Grizzled- Thank you! I do find a strange kind of beauty in winter.

Elise- Geocaching by moonlight-sounds like fun! I have not tried geocaching myself but our state parks here are promoting it lately. What a great way to get out on a winter's night!

I tend to keep track of sun rises more than moon rises, but I think that's because at some point the moon must rise out of view. The full moon always wakes me in the wee hours too. I like seeing the moon rising there in your woods, and enjoy knowing that shortly after that, it makes its appearance here.
