Tree...check

We now have The Tree. In previous years, I have ventured out, saw in hand. looking for an acceptable wild specimen. I have been ridiculed for choosing a Charlie Brown tree. So this year The Hermit took it into his own hands to find The (Griswold) Family Christmas Tree. And find it he did. It is a beautifully shaped balsam fir. If you've never had a balsam fir in your house, let me tell you the fragrance is more than you would ever expect from a cut tree. Divine.

Adorning The Tree are two strands of blindingly electric blue LED lights. I like the idea of lights that use a fraction of the energy of traditional lights, but man! These lights are BRIGHT! Calvin said he could see the tree all the way from the road as The Hermit was bringing him home from basketball practice.

It was heartening to see all the kids working together to decorate The Tree. It is our most beautiful tree ever, okay I will admit some of my home cut Charlie Brown trees were pretty lame...

Deb that is one beautiful tree ! Nicer than anything you can buy at a tree lot . Your home is so well insulated , that must be such a blessing in this cold winter . Such a lovely family you have !

Pablo- Yes, that is Calvin. He is still two inches shorter than me but gaining fast. He is the tallest player on his basketball team. His feet are one size bigger than mine. And, he finally got a haircut today.

FC- The fir family is best for Christmas trees! Thanks...the kids are growing so fast I have to get a picture every chance I get!

Cheryl- Thanks! I only wish there was drywall in front of that insulation! It's coming soon, I hope.

I love Charlie Brown trees...!! In NH where I grew up they would actually price the trees according to what they looked like and I could only afford the Charlie Brown type. I once got a tree for $4 and just like Charlie Brown's it looked great once we got all the decorations on it!

I love balsam fir, the smell is just heavenly! I like that they have led lights avialable now too, although I only put up table-top trees because Phoebe has a habit of chewing up ornaments :) Wishing you and yours a blessed holiday season Deb!

elise- Most years here I have had problems with spending $20+ dollars for a tree we could cut ourselves. But this year I've decided we don't have many cuttable trees (white spruces give me hives, I found out one year!) so spending money for a balsam is OK.

WoodSong- Wishing you a very blessed holiday season too. :)
