rebel larches

While most of the other tamaracks have given up the gold, this grove, as it does every year, is hanging in there, some even still green. I can't help but think of Dylan Thomas:

Do not go gentle into that good night
Rage, rage against the dying of the light

It is 5:00 PM now, and the light is dying fast here as we enter the darkest time of the year.

I NEED to be up north...

Lynne- I have seen more snow buntings in more places this year, already, than I saw all last winter. And I think there are flocks of crossbills flying around, but I can never get them to sit still so I can identify them! They sound different though.

We have one near the house that's just reaching its peak, too. What a treat!

I really hate this time change, I just do. I hate it being dark so darn early. Last night, we barely made it up past 9PM... yuck.
