group "goals/accountability" blog?

I posted this in a comment, but I thought it would be better to throw it out here on a post.

I noticed there were a few regular readers here who have goals they would maybe like to reach, but maybe don't have a huge support system in real life to help achieve them. You already know my latest goal (losing about 50 pounds), and I have a few others, but again no big support system. So, here is my idea:

A group blog. We post our goals, our progress, our lack of progress, our need for someone to slap us in the face and tell us what we need to do, our suggestions, our life experiences, etc.

I know I have a lot of stuff I would like to post about, that I don't necessarily want to get into on my blog, which I try to keep at about 20% or less personal stuff. So this group blog would be a place for that, and a place to develop conversations through comments.

I'm thinking this would be public, so we could link to it on our respective blogs and anyone who cared could comment, as long as it was in a supportive way. Or, if we wanted it to be private, it could be that way also.

So who would be interested? Even if you're shy about posting your personal stuff, I would still welcome any cheerleaders or observers.

Comment here, or email me at flutemandolin AT gmail DOT com.

HMMM....

Sounds good, but then do I really have to lose weight? Like, sweat and stuff?

Barefoot- did you get one here before I had the whole thing posted? :) My bad. I hit "enter" one too many times.

Nope. You just talk about your desire to lose weight, and the rest of us convince you to do it. Or something like that. :) I would love to have you involved.

That sounds cool!

And yup, I did sneak in a little early, but I had been thinking along the same lines, so I kind of knew where you were going with just the title to go on.

I have no idea how a joint blog works, though, so you will have to teach this little techo-illiterate.

Let's do it! I used my garden blog that way last summer, and it worked pretty well. Just the decision to have something to post every day (or week, or whatever) kept me at the gardening, with impressive results. And I really like the idea of keeping the more personal stuff off my main blog.

I'm not sure, but I know that I'd like to lose about 25 pounds.

Hi Deb,
I'd like to get in on this too. But like Barefoot Gardener, my blogging skills are a little limited, so you'll have to let me know how the group blog works.

Well, I've never blogged. Heck, this is the only place I ever even post a comment! But, I'm game if I'm able to figure out HOW.

Looks like we have a quorum! For those of you on Blogger, it's really quite simple: I'll start a blog, then invite you by email to join. I forget how it works, but there are instructions in the email for how to join; I think all you have to do is respond. Once you have joined, you will have privileges to post, change layout, etc. just like on your main blog.

Denise and Momadness, if you'd like to participate, you could do so just by commenting. Whorled Leaves, a group reading/writing blog I'm on, periodically has a "free for all" post where anyone is invited to share their thoughts in the comments. Or you could create a Blogger account without creating a blog, if you want to post.

I'll try to get the blog set up in a day or two, if I have time in the evening. This is going to be fun!!!
