Cathy- The first time I saw one of these was in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area on the MN/Canada border. Now they bloom all over in my own woods; I just found this huge patch of them close to the new house.
dragonfly183- It is really weird, and I guess it's not just Minnesota.
Larry- :) Trientalis borealis.
Lynne- I've seen them mostly in openings in coniferous woods. This patch was on the southern edge of a mature tamarack woods we have just between the new house and the creek. I found it while I was looking for the brown thrasher.

you know the weather has my flowers all messed up. I have summer bloomers and spring bloomers all blooming at the same time.
Deb-is that really a starflower or are you using an alias name again?
I've never seen starflowers before either. Where do they like to grow?
