I have spent my last 3 days priming and painting walls during one of Minnesota's rare hot and humid spells. I can't believe how much work it's been, and I can't believe I've done so much and how the house looks so different inside. But I'm done now, so I can sit back and enjoy the results.
This is the master bedroom, painted entirely in Budding Fern. Why so green? Because for six months of the year in Minnesota we don't see any green outside, so in January this will look really nice.
(The Taylor 512, sweetest sounding guitar ever, at least to me, is placed there just for effect.)
Here we have the monolith stair wall painted in Earthenware Orange. A daring color for someone like me, but I like it, and believe it or not it is a neutral color. I can't imagine any color that would not look good with that as a background. I plan to use a lot of blue accents in the great room for contrast. In the back hallway you can see a dark version of Peach Beach, which we used there and in the entry way. I could not get a good picture of the color in the light. In the kitchen you can see Lemon Balm, which again, I could not get a good picture of.
It was a long job, but I found I actually enjoy painting. Next job is the flooring, which will probably have to wait until next payday. Enough time for me to recover.

Big changes from a couple of weeks ago when I saw it. Like the colors. Just wait till you get the floors and the trim done.
I really like the colors you picked out , very Mother Earth tones and matches your home so well . Very nice !
Hmm, I am in the market for some interior paint and very hestitate about picking a color. I like these though. What paint manufacturer did you use?
Looks great Deb! I really like those colors too! What a great feeling of accomplishment you must have for "gittin' er done!"
I always joke that they put something in paint fumes that makes you look at every wall in your house and say, "Must paint... needs paint." But, once you get it done, it's glorious! I love color! No white walls in my house! Great job Deb!
Wow! Coming from the orange, yellow, purple, red, blue, and basil (green) house, I gotta say I love it!
Great job!
Richard- We'll probably get the flooring in a week or so, and I might get a crazy idea to do a floor- a-thon!
Cheryl- It was surprisingly easy to pick out the colors. They just felt right.
Island Rider- These are all Dutch Boy paints. I'm really happy with the quality; one coat did it except for a few minor touch ups.
RuthieJ- It does feel great to have accomplished this. I kept telling myself, "you only have to do this once, or until you change your mind!"
Jayne- I am such a color addict now! :)
FC- I must give you some credit; I've always loved your blog posts about the colors in your house, and it has inspired me to think outside the box. Maybe my utility room will end up bright orange...
YAy!! looks great! I love a lot of color too; I painted my bedroom a nice sage color and enjoy it immensely.
You will LOVE the pale green. For years my entire downstairs and the upstairs hall were a similar pale green and i loved it. Sunny in the morning and calm at night. In this house I went a bit more turquoise (ok, robin's egg) and love it the same way.
Excellent work!!
Progress is good. I'm not sure if I could take the green though. We had a bedroom like that. I'm more of a white man. :) Despite my heritage.
