who, me?

I thought long and hard about posting this. I have wanted to post a photo of myself, so readers could at least have some idea of the face behind the words, but I really haven't had many images to choose from. I didn't like this one particularly well when I first saw it. One of the kids, I believe it was Calvin, took it way back last spring; I am standing on our beach by the pond, near the front (west facing) side of our property. The horse pasture is in the background. The tamaracks beyond the horse pasture are just getting their spring needles, but note the still-bare branches of birches and willows.

I do like the late afternoon light of this photo, and the colors are nice. And I don't look too goofy, for once... ;)

Deb-

Thanks for letting us finally have a look at you, and, just as I suspected, your charming down to earth beauty and warm smile are very easy on the eyes.

certainly an unexpected gift this tuesday morning. you seem to have brought a talented photographer into the world, and he's lucky to have such a pretty lady to take pictures of.

you seem to be tilting forward a bit in the picture, that wasn't your first beer of the day, was it? :)

Awwwww...*blushing* :)

dharma bum- no, it probably wasn't my first, and most likely wasn't my last. ;) I was looking for a way to fix the tilt in Photoshop, but I have a lot to learn there.

Thanks for the pic. Though, for some unexplainable reason, this is exactly as I pictured you anyway. You've just helped to calibrate my intuition. Don't bother fixing the tilt, it's a bonus.

...and I was also wondering what kind of beer that might be?

jim, that's a Stroh's. Yes, I normally prefer microbrews, but Stroh's is $10.99 a 30 pack at my favorite liquor store in Superior, Wisconsin.

Uh oh, Deb's last comment will probably start another beer brew-haha discourse on microbrews and liquour stores like the last time.

I am with Trouty, you are exactly the way I pictured you. Lovely.

Thanks, Deb. Your beauty just radiates right out of that photo. You do look the way your words portray you. Earthy and beautiful.
I posted a photo of myself a few months back. In case you want to see it's in the August archives on August 20th. I wanted to stop being so anonymous. I'm glad you did too!

Sorry FC, I just could not find a picture of myself without a beer in my hand! Of course, I only drink beer for the camera, never touch the stuff otherwise...;)

Rexroth's Daughter- Thank you. I will look up your photo tomorrow at work, when I have the luxury of a high speed connection. I'm sure it's beautiful.

Hey there, lovely lady! You're a lot like I pictured you, too, only with longer hair. A open, friendly face - there's no adding to that!

Are you sure you didn't want to title your post "Whoooo Me?" as a tip of the hat to your photo icon? ;-)

When I saw this photo, my first thought was "Wow, they have a fox on their property!" Then I realized it was you and said "Wow, she's a fox!"

Thanx for the photo. I don't suppose I'll ever have the courage to do the same over at my place.

A fox?!!! Pablo, that's like steroids for my ego, that and all of the other comments here! I would very much like to see a photo of you and Libby some day.

madcap-you clever lady! I'm thinking now I'll replace Great Gray with a cropped version of this photo, although I'd like to figure out how to incorporate the owl photo into the main title box. He is such a symbol of what this blog is about.

Deb -

When you go into Photoshop, use the cropping tool. Once you sort of "frame up" the image, you can rotate the "frame" by grabbing it at any corner. Then simply double-click to commit to the crop. If you don't like how it went, just hit Ctrl+Z to undo and try again.

Hope this helps.

The problem with cropping this particular image is that a lot of pertinent "kid's-perspective" information gets lost. The red wagon gets reduced to little more than an afterthought, for one thing.

thingfish-I agree, and that's why I didn't try too hard to crop this photo. Too much would have been lost, including among other things my legs. I hate being amputated at the thigh in photos. Either head shots or full body shots, no in between. And the red wagon...yes, glad you noticed it. I did too. It does add something about what my life is about here, and I'm glad Calvin caught it. My brother lets his daughters run loose with digital cameras, and I think that's a good thing.

Anyway, thanks for the Photoshop tips, although I'm beginning to think there's nothing like a pure, raw photo, unedited. I think you know what I'm trying to say.

Cool photo! Glad to see the "killer jam maker" live. Did I mention YUM? :)

It is nice to have a face behind the words. I often form a picture in my head of what i think the person looks like.
I wasn't to far off in this case.
