Nice pics. Great blog. Found my way here from whorled leaves. That from Lene commenting on my blogs Dharma Crumbs and Rip Rap. (buddhism and nature writing respectively)
I found a little something for you: http://www.birdphoto.fi/lajikuvat/strneb/
I saw a beautiful photo of a Great Grey in a gorgeous annual magazine called Nature's Best Photography. It's not in the set of photos I linked - it's more breathtaking than any I saw on the linked page. Jari Pelotmaki of Finland is the photographer. I wanted to link to this particular photo, but alas...
Thanks dave and troutgrrrl! I'll check those out tomorrow when I have the luxury of a high speed connection at work. ;)
peacebug- thanks for stopping by! You know, the more I look at that photo, the more I like it. I was lamenting that I didn't have my camera with the good telephoto lens at the time, but if I had, I would have concentrated on the subject, not the surroundings. And I think the subject, in the context of the surroundings, makes for a nice scene.
FC- if my husband hadn't yelled out to me, I would have missed the owl; he blended in so well with that dead snag!
lene- this was about a mile away, as the owl flies. ;)That's what my area looks like, pretty much.
By the way, I saw a flock of cedar (or Bohemian) waxwings land in the crabapple trees where I picked the crabapples for the jelly. There were plenty of apples left for them, and I hope they enjoyed them. :)

Got him. It is amazing how well a bird that big hides in plain sight.

Was this shot taken on your property? What a beautiful area you live in.

Wonderful shot. I like the owl in the setting like that. It is a wonderful composition.
