Those are the best filters. I can't draw or paint to save my life, but I sometimes have fun manipulating photos and creating something that resembles art with them. It's a fine way to experiment with color and texture. So many ideas, so little time...

Dan, you are correct, that is a great gray owl, the one I saw in May. The original photo is in the archives here somewhere.

Troutgrrrl-I did see Cindy's post; I'll have to try that. I love her stuff!

Rurality- I have always been drawn to Impressionist paintings, and it's easy to get that effect with the "sponge" filter on Photoshop. For the other one I think I used the "dry brush" filter.Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07879771115420282834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10304963.post-1138892712857589212006-02-02T09:05:00.000-06:002006-02-02T09:05:00.000-06:00I particularly love love LOVE the second one. Is that an owl in the top pic?

I now certainly do not like synthesizers (and agree fully with the bumper sticker that says "Drum machines have no soul"), but I was in a band for ten years that used one. Can't listen to that music today.

This photoshop sort of thing seems different to me, or maybe I'm just in the "see what she can do!" stage, too.Dan Trabuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14303597141397042669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10304963.post-1138832352812478812006-02-01T16:19:00.000-06:002006-02-01T16:19:00.000-06:00I may come across as being somewhat of a hypocrite...I may come across as being somewhat of a hypocrite for saying this, but I don't like synthesizers either; a lot of the music produced with them in the 70's now is significant only in that it has this "see what I can do!" sound to it. Nothing can replace the artistry of a hand crafted acoustic instrument in skilled hands.

I guess I'm in the "see what I can do!" stage with Photoshop; being someone not particularly skilled in drawing or painting, I can take my photos and make them look like I drew or painted them. But more likely, I'll use it mostly to make minor corrections in color balance on my photos; a "digital darkroom" so to speak.Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07879771115420282834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10304963.post-1138830732282820322006-02-01T15:52:00.000-06:002006-02-01T15:52:00.000-06:00I'm not sure what I think of digital manipulation....I'm not sure what I think of digital manipulation. I had a hard time accepting music synthesizers back in the 70's...

I'm pondering this dilemma.R.Powershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04905593499136090763noreply@blogger.com
