Great horned owls hooting at about 3 AM, so loud I could hear them from indoors.
A male cardinal and a male red bellied woodpecker at the feeder at work. At the same time.
A bald eagle (I'm pretty sure) in a tree in a pasture on the way home.
A small flock of 4 snow buntings just east of Sandstone in a field.
A barred owl, sitting in a tree next to the road just a couple miles from home. Awesome, or what?

Heidi- Today when we were bringing Mr. Attitude to school, we saw a rough legged hawk taking flight right above the road. They can be identified by their "shoulder patches" seen from below. I had not seen one or a while.

ReplyDelete3 AM seems to be the magic hour for Great Horned Owls--that's when I see mine too.
You have me beat by a mile. All I've seen lately is house finches, juncos and goldfinches in the backyard and red-tailed hawks about every tenth of a mile along the freeway!
