I found this intertwined pair this morning when I was thinning carrot plants. I generally hate the idea of thinning anything in the garden, but at least these were big enough to eat.
That is so cool! Now it is my turn to be jealous. My carrots had a very low germination rate, and the ones that did start to grow were all bunched together so that I had to thin them before they were edible.
Barefoot Gardener- My carrots had a low germination rate too, and the ones that grew were all clumped together like yours. I do like eating the thinned out ones that are big enough to eat though.
Lynne- That's about a 2x3 sandstone boulder that was unearthed when we had this land bulldozed a few years back. It's next to one of my pitifully neglected rock gardens (the one the lupine is in) and near my favorite young white pine tree. A nice place to sit and think, if I ever had the time!

I love fresh carrots, but they seems tedious to plant, and don't come ou that well in my yard.

RuthieJ- Yes, it's a very cool rock. Our land is full of these; this one is right next to one of my perennial gardens, and it's a great sitting place.
